Laura Muir is the best consistent circuit runner on the track today who hasn't picked up a global championship gold

AHHH NIKKI HILTZ!!!!! HOLY FUCKING SHIT!
Nikki Hiltz is incredible. Back to back national championships in a very deep event.
Live reaction to the 1500m semifinal heat sheets dropping… 😳 “They are screwed.” - @_EricJenkins Live now: youtube.com/live/7MwByyCUU…
Why hasn't Michael Johnson gone on the @letsrundotcom podcast? Citius Mag was given a lot of attention with the @GrandSlamTrack rollout but letsrun is a much longer standing and more important voice for the sport.
a letsrun poster has done the math on world ranking points Corrigan will need to make the games. TLDR: he essentially needs to run the Olympic Standard (8:15)
I understand why people are annoyed by this but it will be a great watch. A TT with an olympic berth on the line. PR, run 8:15, and you go. Should be awesome.
pennrelays.com/news/2024/5/10… Shout out the powers that made this possible, someone put up prize money to make this event a high enough label on world athletics calendar for substantial points. Now, James Corrigan just needs to run 8:20 to accrue enough points to go to Paris.
For sprints fans, sure. But watching the distance trials you get a distinctive feeling you're seeing B level talent. Once in a while we're competitive in the 1500 or 800. 5000 and 10000? Extremely rare.
The best track meet for fans: Olympic/World Champs The 2nd best? US Olympic Trials Not, the Diamond League final, Monoco, Pre, etc Why? Because it has meaning, consequences, and leads to something people understand. It's NOT an exhibition We need more meets that have meaning.
Watch it frame-by-frame. You can look at Mu's feet on the last 3-4 strides before she falls; in bad traffic, she tries to move left. And you can see this causes her to get clipped from behind. Lack of recent race experience; her first meet in over 9 months! It was Mu's fault.
In the women's 800 final, @athiiing has fallen. Friendly reminder, the rules allow for the race to be re-run. Let’s make history. letsrun.com/forum/flat_rea…
The heartbreak of this sport is too much at times 😢
Sage Hurta-Klecker: “I’m really pissed on how that played out.” Not happy about Athing Mu’s fall in the 800m final and how it disrupted her race. She is entered in the 1500m and will try to bounce back to try and make the team in that event.
Mu falling was always a risk people talked about, considering how long her stride is. Just gutting for it to cause her problems in this moment.
Damn. That Mu fall was one of the toughest ways in memory for a great athlete to miss the games. I did not see that coming.
