Loops are for cowards

We never needed while loops. The power was always within us.

Some people merge. Some rebase. But I prefer to cherry-pick my battles.

If it doesn’t matter, then why make me do it at all?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you don't need a Microsoft account to run Windows. You do need a Microsoft burner account to set up the FIRST account during setup, same as MacOS. After that, set up all the local accounts you like. It's what I do. Total time delta: 3…

If you're running a process that people want to hack, and you're not actively measuring attempts to hack it, it's being hacked.

Today’s plan: we need to fix everything without changing anything

The momentum of the Rails renaissance is incredible. SF Ruby is leading that charge right where it all started. We’ll be there showing off all the new work we’ve been preparing for everyone with a focus on enterprise and Rails at scale. You can’t and shouldn’t miss it 🙌

And here are my thoughts while being at @ycombinator yesterday! With all the sponsor support we could now lower the price a bit and with the coupon SEP29OCT6 you can get a ticket for $350 for a few more days! sfruby.com

How to become a great @NFL quarterback: 1. Start the season as the @49ers backup. 2. Show up when QB1 gets injured. #49ersfaithful

I want to believe this. I want it to be true. But, at this point, I think it's more aspirational than reality. We have a class of people using agentic coding who understand specs and design patterns and use agents to accelerate. We have another group of people who don't…

Agentic coding is breaking down the walls between technical experts & non-technical contributors. It transforms problem-solving into a universal skill: if you can describe a challenge, you can now build the solution. This shift redefines who gets to innovate & accelerates.

A lot of people don’t know this but @ScoutAPM was a huge part of the success of Flexcar’s rewrite in Rails. Love these folks.

A solid free tier with errors, logs, and performance data, and now an MCP server, so your AI code assistant can access your application data. Don't sleep on Scout, we are doing cool stuff over here!

How I have been able to be so successful, so far… Operate from a place of genuine curiosity when you're talking to people. Assume you're always auditioning for a bigger role. Give before you take. Find a way to air your weirdness, like a blog, social media, or a newsletter.…

Ok this got my attention

It no longer costs credits to use “Fix with v0” when v0 makes an error.

This isn’t a GH thing. For some period of time every frontend that wasn’t React was assumed to be bad and needed to be updated to a “modern” React app. Massive amounts of time have been wasted moving from one HTML generator to another.

And while I'm ranting: I love react, but the GitHub react UI update is objectively a massive regression and I do not understand why they worked on that. What are they achieving by taking a perfectly working system and just making it worse?

< 7 days I want “days ago” < 50 years I want a time stamp < 100 years give me “years ago” > 100 years idk use Roman numerals or something

Whoever decided it was more user-friendly to make every program timestamp everything e.g. "8 years ago" instead of "2017" a) was extremely wrong about that and b) deserves punishment.
