For those out there with less gray hair than me… Never underestimate the value in working with good people towards a common goal. You can always do more together Sometimes academia makes us forget that science is a team sport & no one does anything alone #ESMO25 @myESMO

Run and covering the unit 🥰

It's admirable to see how you're handling the rejections with such grace. It takes a lot of strength to accept setbacks while focusing on what truly matters—your family. The dedication you show, even when it feels like a sacrifice, speaks volumes about your character and…

I am sorry - I recently got rejected it does sting but sometimes a rejection yields resilience. I once followed the guidance , and got my paper into a stronger journal - keep up the good work

💯 Agree. 🙋🏽‍♀️Grant rejections or significant rewrites are part of the process but also 💔heartbreaking not only for the investigator’s ego but the countless hours, nights & weekends not spent w family (and not reimbursed by institutions) #MedTwitter

3 rejections this week. It’s part of the world that we live in and I am at peace with that. The struggle is the many evening and weekend hours that went into them which were not spent with wife and (rapidly growing) kids - this is less easy to forgive. Look after those closest 🥰

And take a moment to enjoy this huge success which is superb science that may lead to new novel treatments. Impressive stuff! nature.com/articles/s4146…

Sorry to hear to this Adam. Sadly life isn’t fair (you know this as a Spurs fan!). Hard work is rarely wasted (easy to say from afar). You are a great doctor, scientist, father, husband, son and friend. You made such an effort supporting me and my mother when she was dying of…

22 years doing both 🤦‍♂️

Just in case any one is wondering: Biomedical scientists spend an average of 12 years in training before reaching an independent position. That is more than most medical residences.

Academic medicine is hard, not just the science, but the silence after a rejection. We don’t talk enough about that part. Especially after late nights and weekends poured into a proposal. Thanks for openly sharing @AdamSharpMedOnc.

Kudos to Dr Yap @MDAndersonNews who lead the early phase development of Saruparib.

First glimpses into saruparib in PETRANHA by @AzadOncology Surprised by the comparable rates of anemia. Has encouraging initial activity but hard to differentiate from ARPI alone given study design. Await P3 data

I found that a way to compartmentalize and not go from sad to depressed was to sub myself the Queen of the Rejecto and carry on. And yes, the time lost with the loved ones is the most precious.

It’s a feeling that many of us share. Keep strong and resilient 💪🏻!

💯 agree. Being present for them matters most.

We don’t have a proper structure to nurture science or scientists 🥲

Research: "you win some, you lose more" (even more applicable to lab-based / discovery science)

So frustrating, my friend especially given the sacrifices you make but it’s so greatly appreciated by men like me

💯 on all points I’m glad you persist. The world is a better place for it
