Can someone suggest some books on the whole housing debate around NIMBY/YIMBYism? Admittedly outside of my like realm of things I know a good amount about and I wanna read up on it
NYC’s hotel inventory increased 73% between 2007-2021. Demand is (presumably) inelastic. A big reason we can’t have a real conversation about prices is that every major chain - Hilton, Marriott, Wyndham, Hyatt, Omni, Choice Hotels, etc - is using the same price-setting software.

Zohran’s housing transition team doesn’t have ONE public housing advocate but it’s ripe with REBNY and developer representation. Actions speak louder than words - and these action speak for themselves. Developers will run housing - at the cost of public housing.

I really wonder how much public housing we could have built by now if the left had spent the last decade laser-focused on achieving that goal instead of wasting a lot of energy fighting YIMBY reforms and advocating for clumsy regulatory kludges like affordability minimums
