this rhetoric is everywhere among the uninformed in San Francisco: it’s always one commissioner here, one supervisor there who are responsible for the supposed decline & fall of the city never mind the actual mayor, who has been a moderate since the 90s!
San Francisco is healing. Few people bear more responsibility for the decline and enshittification of our city than Friedenbach and her coalition.
When YIMBYs say upzoning will lower prices their followers assume this means prices will be significantly lower, enough to make housing broadly affordable. This is the core appeal of their narrative. And it’s essentially a lie.
Report by the city economist on the mayor’s Rich Family Zoning Plan makes it clear that even if developers are allowed to build all they want everywhere they want, it won’t bring housing prices down. 48hills.org/2025/10/new-st…

hey! this is what a real NIMBY is btw: someone who moves to a neighborhood with a homeless community and services and demands for that to change.
