Average Database CEO
@AvgDatabaseCEO
CEO of AvgDB. $100m series B. Now doing Auth and Storage!
Ohh husbant... You founded a database company and sell each database for less than it costs to run it... Now we are homeless

Indie hackers will spend weeks building little tools to simulate activity to stop their free tier stuff from turning off instead of getting one customer who will pay them so they can use non-free tiers.
I need everyone to know how much I love my kids. I have 4 of them. That means I’ve had sex 4 times so you all can stop calling me a virgin. I’m teaching them to write rust.
The CTO of @xata calls out @neondatabase for their reliability issues. Claims Postgres is reliable and Neon is the problem.
That's 100% on Neon, I think they never claimed otherwise themselves.
This is why we’re happy to be an AvgDB wrapper.
Postgres is the absolute worst database choice you can make. There must be something in the chemtrails that is causing mass delusion among startups choosing this outdated tech.
Same with the amount of people who confuse “Postgres” and “good database”
The amount of people who confuse “loose” and “lose” on the internet is astounding.
Having a bad day? Stop feeling so bad. There’s someone out there who woke up today and connected their app to a serverless Postgres provider. See, it can always be worse.
Over 2 billion dollars has been raised in the past year by Postgres startups. Why do you think you all see so many people advocating for Postgres? They are paid. It’s a massive marketing campaign.
What non meme reasons do people pick it for? Familiarity? Marketing?
Even SQLite is more performant than Postgres. Sqlite is no more than a glorified CSV file supported by a religious cult!!
I needed a database for my startup. After much research, only AverageDb from @AvgDatabaseCEO fit the bill: never down, so no backups needed, sub 1ms response time. Can only afford the free tier, so that's branded tables, need to learn not to do "select * from t" anymore.
Wow bravo to Vercel for making the tradeoffs clear here

The vibe coding + database startup symbiosis is a sophisticated financial instrument put in place to transfer millions to AWS. In hopes that said database startup will be rewarded by an acquisition by either vibe code company or AWS.
The largest AvgDB instance does 14 billion RPS, which is billions more than your database. You might as well pack it in and go out of business before I make you go out of business.
My database is better than YOUR database haha
It’s easy to hire engineers. Just give them a title 1 level higher than they deserve. 1 year of experience, that’s senior. 4 years, principal. They can’t resist.
Why would TikTok care about $300k. That’s a week of my free plan infra spend. Means nothing to me and I’m a small fish.
Some database CEOs are non-technical. Explains a lot.

Neon “downtime” database users are so ashamed they can’t even bring themselves to say the name after they migrate away!
