Average Database CEO
@AvgDatabaseCEO
CEO of AvgDB. $100m series B. Now doing Auth and Storage!
Ohh husbant... You founded a database company and sell each database for less than it costs to run it... Now we are homeless
I had a banger tweet earlier and i put it in a Neon database for safe keeping. They lost the data, now it’s gone forever.
The database industry 2023: I want to build a fast and reliable database service that’s trusted by many companies. 2025: With enough bullshit I can convince a vibe coding AI bubble app to give my database away for free and then use the fake user growth to get an acquisition.
10 years ago, I was living in my parents 3k square foot ADU. Today AvgDB has its own billboard in NYC Times Square!
Finally found a reason to respect Neon. They hate their free users too!
Neon is blocking you out of your OWN DATA until you pay. Cant even back it up locally. nothing Moved to other provider, bye. @neondatabase
I kinda like this status page 😂
They can’t stay up and they can’t go down. Seriously what is wrong with Neon?
In the last 4-5 days I've noticed my @neondatabase usage to be extremely higher than normal, like x20 higher. No sudden traffic changes or no other significant changes across 3 projects. The DBs are not even scaling down automatically after inactivity. Is it just me, or?
In a year when his CFO makes him raise the price, I’ll be here and welcoming everyone back with open arms. 🥰
Finally i can use PlanetScale for my side projects instead of AvgDB.
AvgDB is the main character in the database world right now. They’ve come in, had solid uptime for years, incredible UX, Auth, and storage. They’re about to launch a rust rewrite. And their marketing is perfect with regular “our competitors are down again” content.
it seems that i need immediately switch from bullshit @neondatabase to something way more reliable all they services are operational as they say on their status page, however, my console is red in db errors. and i am paying for that hundred bucks a month fuck you neon
I give away free databases to compensate for no one asking me to prom in high school.
Don’t let the single 42 year old tech CEOs see this.
Now this is a good account to follow.
Horrible experience pitching my startup to an American VC on a Zoom call He asked about our growth Told him we achieved 98% GDPR compliance across all data processors “What?” I started to explain that we have completely restructured our data retention policies and— “Do you…
Oops. Timescale caught bragging about their benchmark. Where they setup clickhouse incorrectly.
Nice try. ClickHouse has very strange ORDER BY for the given queries over the events table (I'd expect ORDER BY (event_type, event_timestamp) at least, probably with partitioning by date), and it doesn't use JSON type for the event payload column in this benchmark. ClickHouse…
Counter-intuitive advice for designing a very large scale database service: 1. Don't bankrupt yourself giving away free databases to vibe code scams. 2. Don't hire ghost writers for your CEOs twitter account. 3. When shit goes down, distract with a fake user growth chart.
If you like a lot of downtime, go for it It’s one of the worst services to go for these days. I’d recommend looking into other hosted databases if you actually want proper uptime
Spoken like a true database CEO.
am i taking crazy pills? does no one realize how pricing works? its extremely common to - price low to get distribution - win the market - raise prices to the profit maximizing price uber did this a decade ago. ad infinitum
There’s a very good chance I took two adderall instead of one this morning
