On 12 November 1914 John Dimmer manned his machine gun and was shot 5 times. Nevertheless he stayed at his post, firing and reloading one-handed until his gun was destroyed. Despite his wounds Dimmer insisted he personally report the successful defence to HQ Taralom99 / Commons
