Ask Action NC what their plan is to expand affordable transportation options for low-income families. They want them to get by on the extremely limited existing system instead of supporting the plan to reach 90% of Mecklenburg for just pennies in sales.

Funny how people who never ride CATS suddenly become “experts” on safety. I’m on the trains, buses, or at CTC every day — security is now omnipresent. Matt rode once in September, heard a bad word, and now he’s an authority.

CATS security funding rose from $5.9M in 2022 to $18.4M in 2025, yet armed security officers dropped by 40% during that time. The city's budget increased from $2.1B in FY2016 to $3.8B in FY2016. I'm no longer in elected office, nor do I work for the city. It is not my…

In light of the IBC push to ban “windowless bedrooms” I’m reposting this survey & paper which found that Americans who wanted a baby *preferred* floorplans w an extra room, even if it didn’t have a window It’s a “Baby Maybe” apartment: space for desk, storage … or a crib!

I'm very proud release a project I've been working on for 18months: the *first* rigorous study on floorplans & families. ~10K person survey & 40pg paper on: Do floorplans matter to families, or people who want a baby? Turns out, YES! And having an *extra* bedroom matters MOST

The attributed quote was pretty far off from I said. My point throughout, though: a no vote is a vote to wait; we have no idea how long the wait for a “better” plan will be; and a no vote is a vote for roads that are less safe, and a transit system that’s less effective.

“Public policy should [work] to ensure a full life, with as much quality time as possible. When you strip away all of the arguments and assumptions about Charlotte’s transit plan, it boils down to our most valuable and irreplaceable resource: time.” #cltcc qcitymetro.com/2025/10/20/cha…

Imperfection is no reason to reject the transit plan

Charlotte's transit plan is about more than transportation; it's about gaining back valuable time, an irreplaceable commodity.

Why do we have streets that we can’t see the lane lines when it’s raining and what can be done to rectify that?

The @Panthers having a backup suddenly become one of the most productive and talked about running backs in the league was not on my bingo card.

Not a mailbag episode, but what are some questions you would like to ask a Charlotte DOT employee?

In Charlotte, all these trees would be cleaved in twain by Duke Energy

Brooklyn has some of the best street canopies in the country

Has this guy and David Tepper been seen in the same room @josephperson?

We won’t stop fighting to lower healthcare costs for EVERY American. This week, folks across the country are getting letters saying their healthcare costs will skyrocket—because of Republican policies. We want to fix it. The GOP doesn’t even want to talk about it.

Every time a new spot opens walking distance away and I don’t have to drive across Charlotte to acquire their product/service, an urbanist angel gets its wings.
