On this date in 2008, Marraffini and Sontheimer floated an idea: moving CRISPR into eukaryotes could enable RNA-guided gene targeting. Little did they know that 12 years later, thanks to many brilliant colleagues in our community, CRISPR’d patients would walk among us.
Congratulations!!! We shall henceforth redefine the field history as CRISPR BC (Before Charpentier, relatively few people cared about CRISPR) and genome editing AD (After Doudna, everybody cares about genome editing). Predictable, defensible, momentous! @doudna_lab @NobelPrize
T-minus two hours until "Human Nature" premieres! Discover the extraordinary new technology called CRISPR, which we can now use to edit DNA—including human DNA. But first, what is #CRISPR and how does it work? to.pbs.org/3hbBxTV
Thrilled to announce that the @FDA has cleared Caribou’s first IND for a CRISPR #genome-edited off-the-shelf allogeneic anti-CD19 CAR-T #celltherapy candidate for patients with relapsed/refractory B cell non-Hodgkin #lymphoma. Read more here: bit.ly/2F0cbvr
