Callophrys Tree Consultancy
@CallophrysTree
A new Tree Consultancy Service launched in summer 2024, operating throughout Central Scotland and beyond.
The final day of four carrying out roadside tree inspections on the 6,500 ha Cortachy Estate on behalf of @scotwoodlands. The beech, birch and larch in the Angus Glens just about holding on to their autumnal palette.
As a business owner, it is imperative that you understand your duty of care and legal implications of trees on your property. If you are in any doubt, reach out to a professional arboriculturist or tree consultant. Cases like this one are easily avoided. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

No Jack. No Victor. So Mrs G helped herself to a seat on the Number One bench in Victoria Park, Glasgow. “He who hingeth aboot, getteth heehaw!” #StillGame
Sometimes tree surveys take place in the most challenging weather conditions and the most drab locations. Today, was not one of those days. A glorious morning spent at Camping and Caravanning Club’s Inverewe site.
A casualty of the recent storms. Two stems of a coppiced alder (Alnus glutinosa) shattered as a result of abnormal forces.
Tree inspection at Camping & Caravanning’s Loch Ness Shores site complete. Now heading north to undertake (potentially) @CallophrysTree Consultancy’s most northerly survey - the Camping & Caravanning Inverewe site.
The first of five tree surveys @CallophrysTree Consultancy is carrying out for the Camping and Caravanning Club this August. First site visited, Moffat.
An early morning site visit at the former Herdmanflat Hospital, Haddington, before returning to the office to produce the Arboricultural Method Statement for the development.
One year ago today, @CallophrysTree Consultancy was born. I've been fortunate enough to be involved in a large number of interesting projects in the first 12 months. I'm forever grateful to everyone who has supported @CallophrysTree Consultancy in one way or another. Thank you.
A day off yesterday. However, I shadowed Alan Motion MBE on a tree walk around Dunkeld and Birnam. I even got to witness Alan perform Macbeth (albeit an abridged version) under The Birnam Oak. Not all professional development needs to be formal.
Spent yesterday with Alasdair Baxter, Savills Arboriculture Manager, as we carried out a roadside tree safety inspection along the B846 on the north shore of Loch Rannoch between Kinloch Rannoch and the Allt an Ceardaich burn.
Spent yesterday inspecting a stretch of roadside trees along the B818 outside of Fintry. Yesterday was a good day.
After the glorious weather of late, today was somewhat of a shock to the system. Nonetheless, spent the morning on site at Huntershill House, Bishopbriggs inspecting impressive beech trees, like this fella.
I can think of worse places to inspect trees. @CallophrysTree Consultancy is spending two days inspecting roadside trees from Kinlochleven to Glencoe.
Tree inspections in Scotland aren’t always in picture-perfect shortbread tin vista surroundings. Yesterday's assignment saw @CallophrysTree Consultancy inspecting a stand of trees adjacent to a Lidl car park in Bellshill.
