People with pain often turn to anything that offers hope. Cannabidiol (CBD) is being pushed as a silver bullet. Well it ain't: it's ineffective, expensive, and possibly harmful (jpain.org/article/S1526-…). @TheJournal_Pain @EmmaFisher1 @Chris_Eccleston & Sebastian Straube
@Chris_Eccleston is right about closing the specialist centres. For pain it rips out the evidence-based heart and opens the way to people with pain being ripped off by snake-oil salespeople selling stuff that is ineffective, expensive, and probably harmful. Times 18, of course.
OK. Children's Pain Research people. This is the opportunity you have been waiting for. jobs.nhs.uk/candidate/joba… GOSH is starting a new interdisciplinary pain service and we need your help to research it. @KidsInPain @childpainSIG @PICH_pain. Spread the word👏

Why we need a @CochranePaPaS? Almost all pain systematic reviews are rubbish. All Cochrane reviews in this lot of pain SR were in the moderate and high confidence groups. My examination of PaPaS SR for pain confirms they meet AMSTAR-2, and most critical pain criteria as well.
I loved this review. It did an amazing job of integrating many of the current pain models, resulting in a clear hypothesis of how the transition from acute to chronic pain occurs. elifesciences.org/articles/81795…
🧵This is a thread about how we explored some divergent clinical trial results around CBT and exercise in chronic pain. This thread discusses our recent paper just published ahead of print in @PAINthejournal. journals.lww.com/pain/Abstract/… 1/17

This overview review in the BMJ is something of a waste of space for so many reasons. @Chris_Eccleston and I have a detailed response online, but a few quick linked posts to exp-lain why. doi.org/10.1136/bmj-20…
