I like what these guys are doing with UIs

Excited to share Embark, a project that I've worked on together with @alexobenauer and @geoffreylitt at @inkandswitch What if you could do your whole planning process within a single document? inkandswitch.com/embark/

We only have months until ubiquitous, cheap GPT-4 automony - that's when the real hype begins

One of the most insightful and detailed interviews on the AI future I've heard.

No part of my worldview is the same after talking with Carl Shulman Maybe 3 people in the world have thought as rigorously about so many interesting topics Part 1 is about Carl's model of an intelligence explosion (We ended up talking for 8 hrs, so I'm splitting this episode…

GPT-4 is rate limited and expensive, but GPT3.5 is not consistently good enough for operational use cases. The real explosion of useful tools will happen with TurboGPT4.0. More apps, less waitlists and cherry-picked demos...

It turns out the tool use is an emergent capability of GPT-4. OpenAI must have understood this early on in testing.

The largest independent AI company productized the toolformer concept faster than anyone else. Crazy.

Mostly done in one month. Exponential progress is hard to forecast even when you know it is happening. The most absurd sounding predictions end up being the right ones.

The big challenge for AI dialog systems over the next year or so is to make them factual, non-toxic, up to date, and capable of using tools like calculators, databases, search engines, simulators, or in this case, a simple calendar with today's date.

ChatGPT plugins are super simple to implement — basically just document your API, but for a language model rather than human:

For those who aren't aware: you write an OpenAPI manifest for your API, use human language descriptions for everything, and that's it. You let the model figure out how to auth, chain calls, process data in between, format it for viewing, etc. There's absolutely zero glue code.
