I lost my sense of smell & taste after a head injury. Now I can smell again, it makes me all the more appreciative of those lemons. #anosmia

How amazing is this!

Homegrown tea. Bunches of peppermint & lemon verbena hung to dry from a beam in the barn before the leaves & flowers are stripped from the stems. No waste here - the fragrant stems have been chopped & will be placed in a muslin bag to add flavour to stocks, stews, risotto etc

2kg of home grown onions + 2kg tomatoes, garlic, ginger& spices magicked up into a huge batch onion masala - cooked in the instant pot, on solar (and before electricity goes up even more!). Now freezing in cup sizes for super quick curry's in months to come. #frugalfood #gyo

Beetroot harvested, blanched, peeled (thank you #InstantPot )grated and now in the dehydrator in Seedy Beet Cake size portions. Getting my priorities right this year. #harvest #preserving

I wish I was one of those tidy cooks I'm always seeing on social media 🤣 #canning #messybusiness

At last, the dill pickles are ✅ Good feeling! These will now sit for 24 hours to check jars are sealed, then into the cupboard for later loveliness! If you're doing the same, don't throw away spare pickle liquid - it's fab mixed with yoghurt/mayo for dressings & sauces 💚 #gyo

The UK Government is moving forward with plans to deregulate #geneticmodification technologies, even though a massive 85% of respondents at a public consultation were against the idea of #GeneEditing. @Beyond_GM are campaigning to halt this unwanted and unnecessary change:

The UK government isn't listening, so we need to keep saying it. The Genetic Technology Bill isn't fit for purpose and doesn't reflect public views. Join the nearly 10,000 people who have already signed this petition to say so: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6164…

Damson size Sloes foraged out on the South Downs today- never seen anything like it. Egg for scale 😊

Today's harvest. And I think that's me ready to get another batch of dill pickles on at last. I've been saving them in a vac-pac pot for the last week and worked really well . #gyo

Local councillors and our MP are in #Southwick Square. A chance to ask them about the contradictory messages coming from @AdurAndWorthing and @WSCCNews? Will the cycle infrastructure we need ever be built, or just constantly delayed and watered down?

My first time growing Early Prolific Straight Necked Summer Squash - looks like the name is accurate! Just harvested the first one and looking forward to seeing how it compares to courgettes. #growyourown

Pickling cukes have yet to be blown away this year ( #coastalgardening ) - is there a way to keep them fresh while I wait for enough to batch into dill pickles? Currently I am doing a jar at a time but would way prefer to batch can them
