One of the day-after statements from the Trump WH about the order for a "pause" in federal aid was that programs offering "direct assistance" to individuals wouldn't be touched. But many fed programs to individuals go through states and school districts. (By congressional design)

At the moment, we don't know how much prices will go up as a result of tariffs. There are a lot of conditionals. But if the goal is raise the cost of imports so that people are encouraged to buy American-made goods, I want to tell you a story. 🧵

The tariffs won’t be on the completed shirt, only the yarn. Quick check of the prices you’re looking at around $1/shirt for the yarn. $4 for HQ. Assuming everything else was done in non-tariff areas you’re looking at $0.40-$1.60 increase in manufacturing costs.
