Ferrata | Salvation Protocol
@FerrataDev
AAA dev building an indie game, Salvation Protocol, about an android with one mission: to save humanity from an alien invasion.
Commissioned the first concept art for the game. It showcases some narrative, check it out. #indiegame #gamedev #gaming #UE5 #WIP #screenshotsaturday #conceptart
Ever wanted to do a backflip in a game? Maybe an Arabian flip? Why the hell not! Use this mechanic for tactics, for traversal, or just for style. #indiegame #gamedev #gaming #UE5 #WIP #solodev #platformer #traversal #screenshotsaturday #animation
That’s what I was talking about -- various movement options + smart level design = engaging gameplay. Now walls aren’t just obstacles, they’re opportunities. #indiegame #gamedev #gaming #UE5 #WIP #solodev #platformer #traversal
I want movement in my game to be rich and versatile. It should feel great - even with no art, no enemies, just the world and motion. Wall grabbing as a climb start is a small but meaningful step toward that goal. #indiegame #gamedev #gaming #UE5 #WIP #screenshotsaturday
Working on new movement mechanics. Playing with animations in the editor rn. #indiegame #gamedev #gaming #UE5 #WIP #screenshotsaturday
Made an interaction system for my game. Of course, it still needs some artistic touch, but the logic is there. It can grant or activate abilities, give items or attributes, apply effects, and much more. Completely data-driven. #indiegame #gamedev #gaming #UE5 #WIP
My first attempt at a cinematic shot. Just a small mood video for my game. #indiegame #gamedev #UE5 #games #screenshotsaturday
One of the toughest systems to get right in character games: traversal. After countless hours, mine is ... acceptable, kind of. Perfecting it will take a lot more - but I’m pausing here to focus on other features. #indiegame #gamedev #UE5 #WIP
There is a good programming principle stated here: Don’t write functions for code one can write inline as a simple expression using well-known operations. It’s much easier to read code that uses a small number of common primitives than to remember 1000’s of helper functions.
Today, Linus Torvalds told a Google engineer that his code (updating RISC-V support in the Linux kernel) is “garbage” which “makes the world actively a worse place to live”. Adding that the Google engineer’s code needs to “get bent”. As you might have guessed, Torvalds has…
Working on the next big feature (or should I say system) currently, but here’s another Fab model I’ll be sneaking into the game later👀 #indiegames #gamedev #UE5
First thing I added - adjusted aim controls🎯 Unreal isn’t really built for this type of aim, so I had to improvise. Not hard, just a bit of an ugly workaround😅 The game’s built on top of the Lyra project - a nice starting point, though it has its caveats. #indiegame #gamedev
Follow-up: an AI-generated concept of such an alien in the environment of my game. As I mentioned before, I lean on AI art only in the early stages of development to convey my ideas and vibe of the game. Do you already have any guesses about the setting of the game? 😏 #indiedev
Found this cool alien on Fab, with slight tweaks, might be a good fit for my project. #indiegame #gamedev

I don’t believe AI should replace human artists - it lacks soul and fine detail. I won’t use AI art in my game, but until I can hire pros, it’s perfect for sketching ideas and gathering feedback. #indiedev #gamedev
I only started recently, so I don't have many things done. But I'll share some small details whenever there are any. Also, there are a bunch of devlogs there, so I'm thinking of mixing my posts with some tech details too. Like interesting stuff I learned or quick tips or smth.
First, let me tell you what kind of game it will (hopefully) be. It'll be a story-driven sidescroller shooter with RPG elements. I also hope I'll be able to put in a few other genres as minigames or for some small locations, like they did in Nier Automata.
It has been a long time. It has been a hard time. But I'm back and starting a new project; the previous one will be on hold until I have enough resources for it. I'll share more details on a new one soon.

Heya! I've recently started working on my game, and here I'll be sharing some info about how the development's going. Right now, it's in the process I call pre-pre-production😄, but I'm really passionate about it and will reveal any update as soon as it happens.
