At ~2am this morning, I was on the phone to a cardiology registrar. They gave expert advice about some lifesaving interventions. That expertise is invaluable. It’s certainly not worth 21% less than it once was. A good deal can be done to restore value, if govt wanted to do it.

The battle should not be with a digital or with numbers. It should be with patients’ ill health. Exhausting doctors and pharmacists and others energy/goodwill on these is inefficient.
GP surgery was a battle trench of digital misery today. Every person trying to fight the “book online” by coming in being turned away. Pharmacy similar - no order without NHS app. This all feels a bit brutal and Kafkaesque 😞
I’ve tried with hrv and seems has no correlation with my symptoms or available reserve. Still, watching this space with interest.

People understand if their hairdresser, nail technician, dentist or dog groomer hasn’t got capacity to see them that day. GPs don’t have endless capacity, and we can’t build any more with the inadequate funding we have been given. That’s the reality.

A colleague of mine, an ID physician, dropped by today to say goodbye. He is leaving medicine. I asked him, half jokingly, 'you don't want to help people anymore?'. His answer was serious: 'I learned during the pandemic that people don't want to be helped.'

Sitting here on a sunny Saturday clearing my lab results. But unlike most GPs, I don't mind. As a private GP, my time is being remunerated appropriately, all the tests were requested by me, and I know all my patients well enough to be able to interpret the results easily.
At my latest stop in USA I’ve been working with a lovely world renowned surgeon who took a kind interest in my life & work, we spoke a lot I explained it’s been a challenge to get where I am now inc a financial one I asked & he told me his PAs salary which is 10 TIMES my salary
