Sunset on California this evening as many large wildfires continue to burn out of control. Across the state, nearly 1.4 million acres have already burned this year. In the next couple of weeks, 2021 will likely pass 2018 as the 2nd worst fire season on record in CA history.
For the 6th straight week, Extreme (D3)/Exceptional (D4) Drought in the West has set a #DroughtMonitor record as major degradations in the Northwest (+ MT/WY) continue to outnumber improvements in the Southwest. 56.8% of the West is in D3/D4 compared to 53.2% last week @NOAA
