Three years ago exactly I visited Lviv and Kyiv. I just want to share some pictures, with some wishes that the amazingly friendly and optimistic people I met get their future back one day. First, a dispatcher on the Kyiv Metro

The Great British Seaside - sunny excitement to grim desolation in seconds, which is probably why I love it 🥰 hence our #SeasideArtWeekend 🏖️ This fine ‘Great Yarmouth Gothic’ 😉 from James @JourneysofJames showing the #GrimArtAesthetic was fully grasped by November 2020 😁🙏🏻

An honour! I’ve never been a prolific poster but I think my time here is coming to a close. This is a nice echo of what a good place twitter was for sharing and discovering. I might give the blue place a go 🙏

Happy Halloween from Bran Castle in Transylvania - the castle very tenuously linked to Vlad the Impaler🧛. As usual my Brompton enthusiast costume had people fleeing on sight, but the entrance queue was the scariest thing I saw.

Oh god, there are TWO and they’re gaining on us <Dies Irae plays ominously>

Cycled for hours today. Climbed ~600m. Exhausted. As darkness falls I reach Kovachevitsa in the Rhodope mountains. At the Inn I’m treated to a hearty stew, flan and blackcurrant wine. The smell of firewood. It could be 100 years ago. All’s well with the world for a bit.

I’m in Kosovo (hope to tweet more about this as part of another one of my ridiculous no-fly Brompton bicycle trips). The Accursed Mountains is just a name right? Right?!

I recently had a lovely chat with Alexei Sayle on his Radio 4 show @AlexeiOnATrain! We talked about how getting a job on the railway changed my life & health for the better. You should listen to every episode bc they’re great, but my bit is at 23:40 bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

Scoop: HS2 cancellation will mean fares increase between London and the north to reduce travellers amid capacity problems. There will be 8% fewer seats on future trains after the high-speed line was scrapped, and prices are set to go up to reduce demand inews.co.uk/news/politics/…

Dune: Part Two may have been the best experience I’ve had in an IMAX cinema. You’re just completely transported there. Catch it while you can!

Roses are red, tulips are imported, if you see something suspicious on this train remember the three Ss: See it. Say it. Sorted.

I've kind of stopped posting on Twitter now and haven't quite got the hang of Threads either. But making a brief comeback to post my latest pieces, which are all about trains! First of all, some travel inspo for @AFARmedia. afar.com/magazine/beaut…

Ok hear me out: after Labour’s rail review, “HS2” will end in Birmingham but Northern Powerhouse Rail will include a new link from Manchester to Birmingham. That’s the spin, right? RIGHT?! 😭
