I wasn't shocked when @pwharris's Math Perspectives quiz came back saying my "growing up" perspective of mathematics was procedural! Thank goodness I've been shifting that perspective over this past decade! What was your perspective growing up? mathisfigureoutable.com/xyz

Toolkit #1 BTC -Give Thinking Tasks -Form Visible Random Groups -Use Vertical Non-Permanent Surfaces “These three practices are all about creating a new set of norms in the room that necessitate that the system change, and with it, your students” p. 284 #thinkingclassroom
Reflecting on BTC framework with my Ss. I feel toolkit #1 and #2 are working well and parts of #3. Working on: Consolidating from Bottom Ss writing meaningful notes Navigation instruments to help Ss see where they are and where they’re going #ThinkingClassroom @pgliljedahl
Q1: Introduce yourself plus what & where you teach. + How has the way in which you have students take notes changed over time? What happened that prompted the change? #ThinkingClassroom

The interactive multiplication grids on Polypad can help you visualise multiplying integers, decimal numbers or fractions. You can even multiply numbers in bases other than 10! polypad.org/LqfRpJ8EnNZP9A
Mmm… perfect rectangle month. This year February is an exact rectangle because it starts on a Monday and it’s not a leap year. But it’s not as rare as I see people claiming (every 200 years apparently‽), it’s about every 10 years. The previous was 2010 and the next is 2027.
Looking good! Thanks for sharing student thinking with us! For those interested in checking it out, have a peek here: tapintoteenminds.com/3act-math/cove…
Well done, Herbie. Pebbles is such a lovely challenge but we've never seen that approach before! We've uploaded some examples of other children's work and teacher notes with the original problem here nrich.maths.org/48 @Facultymaths @CamEdFac
This week in Maths, Year 4 have been learning about area. Today I set them a couple of really tough challenges to investigate area further. Check out Herbie using his Lego to problem solve! This particular challenge was based on the @nrichmaths pebbles problem. @stobhillgate
Love that I can make games for my online middle school methods class on Polypad. Designed this game for today. Such fun and great opportunities for reasoning and estimating in upper elementary. Polypad – 3-Digit Targets mathigon.org/polypad/iRrbxn… via @MathigonOrg
