This is #Ukraine from space. A beautiful, fertile land with beautiful people who just want to live in peace. My heart goes to the families who are fleeing for their lives. It’s beyond frustrating that one man’s ego can disrupt life for so many innocent people. 📷 @NASA
Standing in support with the people of Ukraine alongside my Russian friends including former cosmonauts who despise Putin’s criminal acts as much as I do. Attacking a weaker neighbor is not strong leadership; it is cowardice based on fear and insecurity.
NASA's SLS rocket is now fully stacked in preparation for a launch attempt during the first half of 2022.
ONE STEP CLOSER ➡️ Yesterday, @NASA_Orion was lifted and placed atop @NASA_SLS for the #Artemis I mission inside of the Vehicle Assembly Building. Work is currently underway to fully secure the spacecraft to the rocket. Check out the full video: go.nasa.gov/3niOAIa

It's one of my favorite days of the year - #NationalMoonDay! 🌕 52 years ago today, humans made #history & stepped foot on the #Moon. #Apollo11 taught me that anything is possible & sparked my #dream of becoming the first person to walk on #Mars. How has Apollo 11 inspired you?

The Navy bell ringing tradition reminds me of when Jeff Ashby & I went to pick up the bell from the @NavalMuseum made for the @Space_Station for new crews to ring upon arrival. Bill Shepherd brought it on the 1st flight & how incredibly special to see Wally ring that bell today!
This booster took Wally Funk to space and came back and landed right here. What a beaut!
Today, Mercury 13 member Wally Funk at 82, will become the oldest person to go to space. The previous record holder was John Glenn, who testified against the Mercury 13, arguing that women were not fit for spaceflight. 💙
