Hi if you live in West Thamesmead this message is for you! I'm Steve Day the local Liberal Democrat candidate for West Thamesmead. It's our by-election on Thursday 19th Dec, so thought I'd introduce myself and what I stand for. #JournoRequest @greenwich_wire
Thanks Matt - was interesting to hear what sounded like a pretty clear consensus on the issues. Just a shame that the original legislation was rushed and ineffective. Should be plenty of parliamentary time debating leasehold, BSR & Grenfell recommendations in coming weeks
Our CEO (and others) put a lot of time into advocacy work. Not because it is profitable but because it is the right thing to do. #Values #BuildingSafetyCrisis
Positive morning in Parliament discussing detailed Building Safety amendments with @LibDems Gideon Amos MP as well as Baroness Pinnock, Earl of Lytton, David Sawtell KC @GeoffWilkinson and Steve Day the fight for justice does not stop. #BuildingSafetyCrisis

We are heading towards the report stage of the Planning and Infrastructure Bill in the House of Lords where building safety may amendments may be tabled. My challenge to all parliamentarians is that we work together and pass these amendments through both houses.
Great meetings today on Building Safety it's time for action.

Great to be canvassing in #WestThamesmead with the @GreenwichLibDem team. I say no to controlled parking zones in West Thamesmead. End Labour's cash grab. @iviswill @abenaopp @mtpennycook @MattHartley100

This is an issue that directly affects my constituents in Surrey Heath. I’m very proud that the Lib Dems are leading the way on this - and congratulations to Steve for his doughty campaigning.

Grateful to the @LibDems for letting me contribute to the Building Safety debate at conference today. 1. We need to replace the partial PAS9980 remediation standard with full remediations using the Building Safety Risk definition under the Building Safety Act. 2. We need to…

At the Liberal Democrat Conference this afternoon at 3.40pm, Gideon Amos MP, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Housing and Planning is backing a motion on leasehold reform and building safety. Mr Amos writes: "I’m really pleased the motion is going to conference and I’m hopeful…

Greenwich Council needs change - failed on building safety at Royal Artillery Quays in Woolwich.
We just need @mtpennycook to implement the Earl of Lytton's consumer protection legislation for buildings. We need consumer protection legislation, without the need of court proceedings, for building defects across the UK urgently. Clauses here: bills.parliament.uk/publications/5…
Delighted to remain in post as Minister of State for Housing and Planning. Lots done, and lots more in the pipeline as we continue the work to tackle the housing crisis and ensure everyone has a safe, secure, decent and affordable home.

Yes I've presented it to him over a video call in detail - the government don't want to introduce consumer protection legislation for buildings as the builders can't build without defects (see image of defect rates below). They want to pass that risk onto the consumer as we've…

I diagree - It's got over 64,000 backers, backed by the Sunday Times, Property Mark, NRLA, ARMA plus others and narrowly missed passing in the House of Lords (see voting list below). It just needs more support from all leaseholders to pass this time with an amendment to the…

The 1000 residents of Royal Artillery Quays are one of the many victims of the two tier post #Grenfell remediation standards. The bronze remediation option (PAS9980) allows banned combustible materials to remain on high risk buildings causing safety concerns and permanently high…
@mtpennycook @LucyMPowell @AngelaRayner @Keir_Starmer There you go a SOLUTION. Now get off your hands.
77% of Taylor Wimpey blocks of flats put your life in critical danger according to the government. The other builders below aren't much better. What if these companies built planes? Would you get on one? If not support us, read more about the Earl of Lytton's…

@thetimes backs the Earl of Lytton's polluter pays consumer protection legislation for building defects for good reason. 1.7 million leaseholders cruelty excluded by the Building Safety Act, a watered down remediation standard that allows banned combustible material to be…

We lost our appeal - I think this is how the story ends for my 10 year long NHS whistleblowing case. There is nothing more I can say so this is a spoof Private Eye style article that takes you through the details with links to the papers. Once again thanks for all your…
