Network Rail has closed Platforms 5 and 6 at Manchester Piccadilly to install netting to catch any further panes of glass that fall from the roof. The work also closes Platform 7 to electric traction and this has forced Avanti West Coast to cut its London service to two per hour.
The case to reconnect Oswestry and Gobowen via light rail is incredibly strong. 🚈📈🚀 From healthcare to high streets to the environment and the economy, I can’t overstate what a transformational impact a link like this would have.
Louise, we are probably both annoyed that HS2 isn't coming to Sheffield, but it is vital to HS2's success that this is done. If it needs the taxpayer, then the taxpayer should do it.
.@RishiSunak promised that Euston would be privately financed & HS2 savings would be invested across the country. Now we know it’s costing the taxpayer another £1bn. He needs to come clean - where is the money coming from & how much more will it cost? ft.com/content/62a7e1…
