It's #BiodiversityDay! These Creek Chub and Common Shiners are providing the spawning conditions necessary for Endangered Redside Dace. We need species diversity and diversity (variation) within species (the stuff of natural selection) for healthy ecosystems.

The Pacific spiny lumpsucker – not just a cute face! With pelvic fins turned suction cups, it clings to surfaces in strong currents, lying in wait for its next meal. Now that's what you a call a perfectly adapted ambush predator! 🐡🤩🥷 🎥: Marcelo Johan Ogata

Earlier this week @NOAA declared the 4th global #coralbleaching event. Driven by #climatechange, corals around the world have been bleaching and dying over the past year, adding to the devastating losses of the 3rd such event less than a decade ago. We need #ClimateActionNow

Nearly a quarter of all ocean species rely on coral reefs, but high ocean temperatures have resulted in a global coral reef bleaching event. "It's alarming and likely catastrophic," @baumlab tells @WmBrangham.
