A lot of factors contributed/could contribute to the recession. Gobal economics, our own doing. There is no shortage of blame. We all have to bear the brunt of it. The consumer ends up feeling it the most. Petrol price, anyone?
We are the country. So all of us together we contribute to the economy. Some have made less profit, some have made nothing, some losses. Basically the economy of the country hasn't grown in the past two quarters. It has shrunk.
Recession. Economic decline in 2 quarters ff each other. In other words 6 months period. This is at a country level. Simplified the country has made a loss. The country produces, manufactures, sells, spends, etc. We as citizens, corporates & government.
South Africa is in a technical recession. Flashback 2009. There is a technical definition. The more I think of how to explain it, the more convulated it becomes. So here trying to simplify it as much as possible.
