Again, mason bees appreciate abundant mud as well as frequent pollen. Nesting sites with mud have more plugs than those without.

Dave, nice work on your #beeaction meeting.

#beeaction There are also summer mason bees that use mud. Don't assume all summer tree/reed/above-ground cavity nesters use solely leaves.

#beeaction Dave: From my research, not all plastics are bad for bee habitats.

In case of a warmer-than-usual spring, it is wise to have emerging mason bees in an area where there are apricots or early-blooming flowers.

Due to the relatively warm weather, I've got some eager male Osmia lignaria passing through the front plug to…not very much available forage

After running my numbers, bees placed near apple trees seem to yield a greater return than bees placed in locations without apple trees.

Our Utah-origin Blue Orchard Bees, within the valleys, closed up shop (with mud) in early May…the earliest I've ever seen.

How can we say "bees are on the decline" when there's too much we don't know? Remember, there are 20,000 species… bit.ly/IGCi0A

Has anyone had success with Mason Bees (Osmia lignaria) nesting in a small-diameter PVC pipe?
