I apologised to my husband for not finishing the task I had planned for today. He said, “Yes, but how many side quests did you get done along the way?” I feel seen - my whole life is main quests being disrupted by side quests. #Neurodivergent

Bumped my head yesterday and husband is worrying about concussion He asked me what I’d spoken about with my mum, I couldn’t give much detail. He asked me what length we’d cut planks to, “229cm” You can’t test if my #autistic brain is working through my social memory 😁

Love a doughnut, love well-being, love neurodivergence well-being, and love a positive workplace. What is not to love? #neurodivergence

It's been a long time since I published a blog post, but I hope you enjoy Wellbeing Doughnuts: Neurodivergent Wellbeing in the Workplace ID: photo of ring doughnuts topped with pastel green icing and multicoloured sprinkles florenceneville.com/2024/05/14/wel…

I wrote a thing after a thing and used up all my words to do it Autistic Social Hangovers are invisible. I don’t want people to see the mask and not understand the cost of putting it on I also don’t want them to stop inviting me to things! #Autistic autistrhi.com/2023/11/20/han…

Autistic Social Hangovers

Since the pandemic I haven’t often felt disabled by the world in the same ways as I did before. I have routine and patterns and I work from home the vast majority of the time. But there will always…

Two entirely normal food obsessions I had as a sensory-seeking teen: I would microwave tinned anchovies for ten seconds and devour them; & at school you could buy vinegar sachets for 2p & I’d drink them at break time Utter bliss from both. Am I alone in this? #AskingAutistics

Does anyone have a link to a resource list on dyslexia in adults, or just good websites they find helpful? So many resources seem to be aimed at schools and parents #dyslexia

“I need to be me again before I forget how. Meltdowns aren’t me. Meltdowns are the consequence of not being me enough. They’re the extreme-stress response when I’ve been ignoring the signs that things need to change.” #Autistic

I don’t want to normalise meltdowns, because they’re a stress response, they should never be normal #actuallyautistic autistrhi.com/2023/04/13/mel…

I just want to thank @FernBrady for putting that bit in her book about meltdowns. I happened to read it at just the right time It’s not an easy topic. I’m a grown-up with a sensible job and comfy shoes, but there is a side that is less sanitised and neat autistrhi.com/2023/04/13/mel…

Bloody hell, I can't even begin to emphasise how important of a point this is.

When you have a really rough day, and then you get home and remember you’ve got builders in so can’t collapse, and then your builder sees you’re feeling rubbish and shows you the picture of a rainbow they took from your window… that specific emotion needs a name.
