#Afghanistan has just been hit by a devastating earthquake, second one in two months, killing and injuring hundreds of people. Our thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones and homes across the Western region.

Mirwais Zahir, the son of the last King of Afghanistan Mohammad Zahir Shah, died in Kabul today. Former President Hamid Karzai called his death a “tragedy." #TOLOnews

Today, Rep. Waltz joined @WithHonorAction and fellow members of Congress to stand with our Afghan allies and call for action in the aftermath of the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.
On this day two years ago, 11 Marines, 1 sailor & 1 soldier were killed in a suicide bombing at Abbey Gate, along with more than 160 Afghans. We will never forget these brave service members nor the sacrifices of their loved ones. (1/2)

The disgrace of Milley, Austin, Blinken, and @POTUS has no bounds.
What we know 2 years after Abbey Gate: ➡️ The suicide bomber was released from Bagram prison weeks before ➡️ A Marine Sniper had a shot & was denied permission to take it ➡️ Diplomats in Kabul formally warned of pending collapse Not a single firing/resignation. Sad & pathetic.
The special forces unit, Ministry of Interior Affairs IEA, carried out an operation & succeeded in raiding a hideout of kidnappers in Kabul & freed a kidnapped citizen from their clutches. All the elements involved were neutralized. The citizen was handed over to his family.

I refuse to accept August 15 as a day of loss & hopelessness. Let this be a day of renewed hope, unity & resolve. Standing with my Afghan brothers & sisters across this small planet.

The most important story today should be that Biden handed Afghanistan over to terrorists and nobody has been fired or resigned two years later. No accountability. None.
Today is the two year anniversary of the Fall of Kabul. In the two years since the oppressive reign began, life has become worse for women, minorities, and any Afghans unwilling to bend to their strictures. So we redouble our commitments to our wartime allies to keep our promise.

It's not just Afghans who are heartbroken by how Afghanistan was betrayed two years ago. US and coalition veterans, too, are still devastated by how our leaders made us abandon Afghanistan - as @AggieWill00 shows in this powerful essay. 🇦🇫🇺🇸🇪🇺🇬🇧🇦🇺🇳🇿🇳🇴 plus.thebulwark.com/p/i-remember-t…
Today marks two years since the Taliban seized Kabul and Biden's disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. Every single veteran who fought in Afghanistan has been sick to their stomach, myself included. We will never forget the many lives lost that August & every day since.

Afghanistan. Two Years. Time will not heal this moral stain until those responsible are held accountable. God Bless the 13 families of the Fallen, our Heroic Afghan Vets, our Afghan Allies, and the helpless women, children, and Afghans suffering under Taliban tyranny. 🇺🇸
August 15, 2021. Fall of Kabul. Fall of Afghanistan. Dark day.
