TIL that if you sing in the rain for 75 mins your music folder will end up resembling an ancient palimpsest! Huge thanks to the heroic singers who braved the non-stop downpour & brought seasonal splendour to the crowds at Trafalgar Square, making lots of money for good causes!

Would have loved it - but anchored in South Wales. If that applies to anyone else, can I suggest an alternative evening’s musical entertainment?

Should’ve been singing with this lovely lot tonight, but (as I mentioned a couple of days ago) it’s been cancelled - but you can still make donations to @ChoirwithNoName who we would have been collecting for.

3/3 We'd therefore like to ask all our friends & followers to consider making a donation: choirwithnoname.org/get-involved/d… Again, hugely disappointing not to be bringing Palestrina, Victoria & Bodenschatz to Londoners but your donations will mean something good comes out of it! Cheers!

It's only because you weren't offering gin that you were short of altos, of course

Ha! No, they come for the quality insults, right @sjoh0050?

Sensible decision but how disappointing for you all! Hope you can sing out again soon. (PS how the bleedin’ hell did you get 16 tenors?were you offering free beer?)

With Covid in my household I'd had to withdraw from this anyway (with a heavy heart, but it seemed the responsible thing to do). Ordinarily though I would have been belting out Bodenschatz, so do please read this thread and dig deep for any bank notes down the back of your sofa.

1\3 Very sorry to report that we've had to withdraw from Thursday's carols. Huge thnx to the 90 singers (90! incl. 16 tenors!) who had volunteered to sing & sorry to disappoint you all. Gutting not least because we wanted to raise money for our chosen charity @ChoirwithNoName.

Gosh I'm glad I was already sitting down. It's been a *very* strange year.

No word of a lie. We were at the point where if any more had volunteered we'd have had to turn them away!

WHAT IS THIS '16 TENORS' THAT YOU SPEAK OF? I SUSPECT WITCHCRAFT.

I think we would've been all right as I was going to ask some of them to help out the altos...

16 tenors would surely have made the choir unstable like certain nuclear isotopes with too many neutrons.

Like the Ghost of Christmas Past suddenly haunting your timeline, #pdtp is inviting you to join us for carols, chorales & motets at Trafalgar Square, 5pm on Thursday December 23rd. Details and registration here: polyphonydownthepub.com/2021/12/10/tap… #weareback #sortof #pdtpxmas

C'mon, all you #pdtp regulars: you're used to singing double choir motets while half-cut, so knocking out a recording of the Hallelujah chorus before midnight on Sunday should be a doddle.

🎤Sing Hallelujah with the BBC Philharmonic! 🎶 Would you like to be part of a national choir singing The Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah for A Celebration for Ascension Day @BBCRadio4? Details here: bbc.in/3fDszPQ Deadline: 11.59pm on Sunday 17 May
