Help #mtbos #statschat #iteachmath! I put this "compare the distributions" question on a quiz, and after reading their responses, I am torn on what to accept as correct. Could the bottom be bimodal? I would say it is skewed left, but could it also be roughly symmetric?
Any stats teachers have a good survey they use to collect data from students that can then be used in examples throughout the year? #mtbos #iteachmath #statschat
There is some great stuff being shared from #NEOKMath today! I wish I could be there, but that would have been irresponsible to drive from KC when new teacher orientation starts tomorrow! Maybe next year?
I've been using TPS 4 for AP Stats for years but am starting a new job with no AP book. I can't decide if I want to keep the same 12 units like I've done or redesign the class with the 9 units based on the new CED. Suggestions? Thoughts? #APStats #statschat #MTBoS
Saw this advice online. "I don’t know who needs to hear this but take that money and reinvest, debt gon always be there. 🤷🏾♂️" I think there is an interesting discussion of interest and exponential growth here to decide when, if ever, this is good advice. #mtbos #iteachmath
If any #APStats folks are looking for a new teaching gig in the Kansas City area, Platte County High School is in need if a great stats teacher. #statschat #MTBoS
I want to apply to be an #APStats reader. My only question is how specific the syllabus you submit needs to be. Can anyone help? #mtbos
Fantastic session with @pvennebush at #NCTMRegionals. Great ideas to rethink how we do homework and practice. Wish I would have had my copy of Math Jokes 4 Mathy Folks with me. Totally would have gotten an autograph!
I love that all of the @Desmos Fellows are engaging presenters that give me ideas I can use Monday in my classroom! #NCTMRegionals #nctmKC
Met @approx_normal this morning at a great session at #NCTMregionals. Thanks for the suggestion about TinkerPlots! Always good to visit with a fellow stats teacher!
We are learning about the sums of interior and exterior angles of polygons later this week. The 180(n-2) never seems to stick (even after we relate it to the number of triangles and see the pattern). Any suggestions of things that have worked for you? #mtbos #iteachmath
As a teacher and mother of a preschooler, this was a really powerful read. "We have to change the culture of education from one based on beliefs to one based on facts."
Anyone have a way they help students visualize that it takes only 2 points to define a line and 3 for a plane and the existence of a plane for any 3 points? I never seem to get the point (no pun intended) across. #mtbos #iTeachMath
I'm still trying to understand how my 5th hour class ended up with two Aidens, two Bradens, a Hayden, and Jaden. Why do you all have the same name?! #teacherproblems #firstdayofschool
Hey #mtbos. I am co-teaching ACT Prep with an English teacher who has taught it for years. We would love to hear how other people grade in this class. We want to incorporate goal setting and improvement, but how do you score that?
Can you figure out the scale factor on this z scale model train? So many good math questions here at the National Train Show! Quarter for size reference. #mtbos #iteachmath
