Republican lawmakers fire second top election official in battleground Wisconsin
Republican lawmakers voted to fire a second top elections official, the latest move by the GOP-legislators to overhaul the state's election system
Rejecting well qualified people from state positions is "insanity" and yet here we are.
.@GovEvers says it's "insanity" that Senate Republicans could fire more than half of his appointees on the DNR board and Joseph Czarnezki, a Dem appointee to the state Elections Commission, today.
Update: The Senate rejected the confirmation of Czarnezki, a democrat appointed by Evers to serve on WEC. Evers will be allowed to appoint someone else. It's the latest move by Republicans who are also trying to remove WEC administrator Meagan Wolfe.

Was nice of Pence to use Jimmy Carter's 1976 slogan and book title ("A Government as Good as its People") in the debate (the young Pence actually voted for Carter over Reagan), but would have been nicer if Pence had bothered to mention the slogan came from Carter, not himself:
Atty. Gen. Kaul says exactly what we have been saying all along - the legislature's attempt to call the vote of 3 election commissioners a "reappointment" of administrator Wolfe is completely false. "There is no plausible legal argument to the contrary."

The revenue we'd generate from legalizing marijuana could be invested back into our own communities. Right now, that's money going out the door to other states. It's time to join our neighbors in legalizing and taxing marijuana, much like we do alcohol. madison.com/news/state-reg…

@chicagotribune nails it on need for high-frequency service. Needs a little work on how to make it happen. But, they are very correct about need for states to push for many more departures, throughout the day! chicagotribune.com/opinion/editor…
