Yesterday’s highlights included being told by someone from the side I was the worst referee he’d seen all season… from a game with 0 bookings and 0 bad comments from players and managers at full time. Interesting take 👀

Interesting to see how players adapt to only the captain going to the ref. It’ll be a big adjustment for some players.

The Tierny mistake was a bad one but the amount of coverage it’s received is incredible. Players simply don’t get this sort of stick when they miss a sitter or cost their team a goal. It’s a weird footballing world we live in. #NFFC #referee
So took my youngest to his game today, and as I predicted to a parent, the match got abandoned! Parents are dicks, simple #grassrootsfootball #grassroots
If he’s already blown for HT but the half is then extended to take a penalty, should the rebound then not count? Or was the half not over and he stopped play to review the penalty decision? #ARSAVL
When top players do things like this it has a negative impact on #referees lower down the participation pyramid. It legitimises questioning of decisions and performance. Players should be educated more on the impact that comments like this can have. They are role models after all
Genuinely don’t know how some refs do it week in, week out all season. After 2 weekends in a row of Sat/Sun middles I am ready for a weekend off to recharge the batteries. Probably more mentally than physically. #grassrootsfootball #referee #grassrootsref
If this club or manager had one ounce of integrity they would part company. Interestingly, they play each other on Saturday and we ask refs not to ref the game if he is in the Technical Area. We will have representatives watching. bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football…

KDB and Foden both missed great chances in the first half yet the media chose to focus on Milner incident, @SkySportsNews even claimed it could cost City the title! This is a big part of the problem for referees. Hammered from all angles as soon as a chance presents itself.

Everyone in the grassroots game needs to come together and challenge the negative narrative against referees Thanks to the likes of @refsupportuk @radical_referee @BoltonReferees @SimonMahomed @OffsideTrust @kickitout and others for their efforts to improve the game for all
Just in case we need to remind the odd individual - it is absolutely not acceptable to encroach on the pitch - even as a manager. It’s certainly not advised to them tell the league safeguarding officer to ‘Do One’ when asked to come off the pitch.
One of our refs got a phone call today after the game This is what grassroots referees have to put up with! 😡 The number calling was 07307 389864 and wasnt blocked, but isnt answering our follow up calls!!
