I find it so disturbing that applicants are concerned about not having publications when applying to graduate school and that some schools weigh this criteria heavily. This inadvertently penalizes talented scientists from circumstances that don’t align with publishing.

I will spend every one of the next 100 days working my ass off to find a Democrat to run against every legislator who voted for the LEARNS scam. If you can join the work, if you are ready to run, if you know someone in a rural district that deserves better, let’s join forces.

As the unfolding ecocide becomes more evident it just seems as though many of us are doubling down on our destructive lifestyles. It's the result of not having a cohesive culture in place that encourages rationing/sharing/minimalism, nor promotes sacrificing for the greater good.

Yesterday was the busiest day for commercial aviation that we’ve ever tracked. We tracked 134,386 commercial flights on 6 July and today is shaping up to be another busy day. More than 20,000 flights are in the air right now.

Implying that people who wear masks do so because they are anxious about catching Covid is like saying people who look both ways before crossing the street are anxious about getting hit. For those who know the dangers of Covid it is as natural and automatic as putting on a coat.

Yes, and usually the "givers" are the women, who experience no reward when they give and backlash when they don't.

Toxic cultures exploit generosity. Takers impose extra work on givers, and no good deed goes unpunished. Healthy cultures reward generosity. People protect givers from takers, and cream rises to the top. Helpfulness is not a weakness to target. It's a strength to safeguard.

What’s become apparent in the last few years to me, is that a lot of people find the idea that they should have a responsibility and obligation to other people around them, highly oppressive. It’s a level of egocentrism that even children would be admonished for.

Now that I have 100K followers, I want to talk about #OvarianCancer. Specifically my gritty story. The goal is awareness. I hope you find this narrative informative.

So basically, we wouldn’t want to make more work for fathers and that makes the risk of birth defects worth it. Women’s health at its best.

CMV is the leading infectious cause of birth defects but doctors are not telling pregnant patients about it. The main prevention strategy is to avoid contact with bodily fluids of infected toddlers. It is infantilizing to not give pregnant women this info. theatlantic.com/health/archive…

I'm very fortunate to live in a state that voted to affirm trans rights by a 2-1 margin, but other states are effectively making it illegal to be trans, with severe penalties in some cases. Allies nationwide really need to help do their part. Now.
