All this NaNoWriMo stuff has got me good and angry, so here's a brief🧵on why I hate AI in writing. Like many authors, I had my brain utterly rewired by genre fiction in my teens, and from about the age of 12 I suffered the constant and urgent compulsion to write fiction.
This essay on AI is almost cathartic in the way that it captures and confirms so eloquently how so many of us feel. I think Mr. Chiang has gifted us with something that will be referenced and talked about for a long time. Send it to everyone you know.
