I rate it GET TO THE CHOPPER!

On a Scale of 1 To 10 How Do You Rate PREDATOR?

Watching movie nerds debate PREDATOR: BADLANDS on social media is hilarious. "If you love the movie, you're not a REAL Predator fan!" "If you hate the movie, you're a bigot!" Hollywood needs to make a dark comedy movie where a Civil War starts over a Marvel movie.

0 - Pilot Chase & Sam begin to plumb the depths of Gen X with an intro to the pod and the season. What is Tony Blair? Who framed Roger Rabbit? Was Fukuyama right? Come as you are, as you were, as we want you to be: a friend. patreon.com/posts/0-pilot-…

It made $80 million worldwide. If it continues getting butts in seats at the theaters it won't be flop.

PREDATOR: BADLANDS is going to be @Disney’s 4th bomb in a row this year. It’s tracking to make $23M-$32M this coming weekend, holding a budget of over $100M. The last successful movie released by Disney was ‘Freakier Friday’, back in August. ‘Zootopia’ can’t come soon enough!

I agree that SUPERMAN was too kid-friendly. That's why I'm lobbying for Catherine Breillat to write & direct the next one. In all seriousness though, you're right that social media conversations are the equivalent to arguments between drunken louts at a bar.

I was curious how this would be received. Even though I liked the movie and said it had charm, that wasn’t enough for some of the people who loved it. This is just another sign that nuance is dead on social media. It's all "love it or hate it" — that’s the only mentality some…

BLACK PHONE 2 was a serviceable winter horror w/ some nice Elm Street-esque imagery. Although it is funny no one on "Team I Just Want Pure Entertainment from My Movies" is complaining about the "message" of the film or the anti-marijuana PSA that was shoehorned in.

I know a lot of people who say they're sick of cancel culture, regardless of who is doing the cancelling. But the second you say, "Well, just normalize all taboos in society; no cancel culture" they just stare at me blankly. Something makes me think they don't actually want that.

When I think of gremlins, I think of Joe Dante.

You ever go through social media threads and notice how the arguments over everything from politics to pop culture have the intellectual weight of a grindcore song named by Seth Putnam?

#NoJoeNoGo could be hashtag.

There must be some mistake here, surely Spielberg got confused and picked the wrong name from his Rolodex

There is only ORCA

Aquatic horror movie KILLER WHALE from Lionsgate has been rated "R" this week for "some violent content, bloody/grisly images, language and brief drug use." Other upcoming whale horror movies include Whalefall and Renny Harlin's Black Tides starring Melissa Barrera.

Just has someone tell me that the replication crisis in social sciences was due to it "all being subjective" and that has to be one of the grossest oversimplifications/general misnomers about why it happened that I've come across. Makes me think we're doomed as a society.

Films don't change the world, people do & I find it weird how we went from actors like Martin Sheen, Ed Asner, & Mimi Kennedy actually doing on-the-ground activism to today's "actors expressing their opinions is activism". No shade at Lawrence, mind you.

NEW: Actress Jennifer Lawrence says she no longer speaks out against President Trump because she realizes that celebrities have zero influence. Lulu Garcia-Navarro: You were outspoken in the first Trump administration... I'm curious how you feel about talking out now? Lawrence:…

Doesn't get mentioned much, but I've often said woke was an inevitable response to the excesses of early 2000s culture like Girls Gone Wild, Howard Stern's "Buttahface Contest", etc. Folks can argue it was an overcorrection, but the early 00s were legit grotesque in many ways.

woke 2.0 is gonna hit these studioheads like an atomic bomb

Haven't kept up w/ John Gray's criticisms of postliberalism, but suspect it's not as much "oh he changed his mind again" as continuity. His whole thing has been one long war against ideological eschatology & utopianism. His knives were always going to come out for postliberalism.

If there’s a case for an upset tonight it’s probably “underestimated numbers of MAGA voters were sticking w Sliwa bc he’s GOP and Cuomo is an old enemy but Trump’s command turned them around”
