How can you make complex profiling data easier to understand? By using intuitive visualisations! Discover the work my colleague Greg Hurrell and I have done on this topic in our latest blog.

Profiling data, while invaluable, can be hard for novices to interpret. To address this problem and make it easy to gain insights into application performance, we’ve made some exciting changes to our Continuous Profiler visualizations. Learn more: dtdg.co/profiling-visu…

Some insights into how my team has been making profiling visualisations more user-friendly at @datadoghq!

My colleague @_Pyves just published a blog post about the source code preview features of our continuous profiler 🎉. One cool UX detail is how we show source code in the default view where we group by function rather than by line.

A new @datadoghq feature my team and I have worked on has officially gone live (public beta) now: Watchdog Insights for Continuous Profiler 🎉 The idea is to automate some of the problem analysis and solution proposal a profiling expert on your team might provide.

17 years of software development taught me three very important lessons; 1️⃣ Unit and integration tests are the best way to prevent bugs. 2️⃣ Keep it simple! Remove anything that's not strictly required. 3️⃣ Question everything! From requirements to cargo cult tech trends.

VideoLAN is 20 years old today! In fact, 20 years ago today, VideoLAN moved from a closed-source student app to the GNU GPL, thanks to the authorization of the @centralesupelec director of that time. VLC has grown a lot since, thanks to 1000 volunteers! videolan.org/press/videolan…

I don't get @British_Airways. They now distribute free food and drinks to everyone on short-haul flights. They didn't do that before the pandemic. Not only is it an expense they could do without, but it makes people take off their masks during the flight. Doesn't seem logical 🤔

Android users on versions before 7.1 - take note! We are switching to a new intermediate cert on January 11. You can still visit any website using Let’s Encrypt certs, but if you want to get past any warnings, use @Firefox’s mobile browser. mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/…

#Kotlin increasingly feels like an IntelliJ-specific DSL rather than an actual programming language. Unless they get serious about supporting other IDEs such as @code, @EclipseJavaIDE, @netbeans and others, probably best to stay away from it and avoid vendor lockdown.
