The suspension of @jimmykimmel and the promise to silence other Late Night hosts for criticizing the administration should disturb everyone on the Right, Left, and Center. It’s wrong and anyone with a conscience knows it’s wrong.
A free and democratic society cannot silence comedians because the President doesn’t like what they say. This is an attack on free speech and cannot be allowed to stand. All elected officials need to speak up and push back on this undemocratic act.
I’ve hesitated to write about Charlie Kirk, a political adversary whom I held in (all-too-intimate) contempt, whose murder has filled me with despair, pity, & fear. I am grateful to @lionel_trolling for pushing through such feelings to writing something of clear-eyed substance.
