I've seen jokes about Liz Cheney as speaker, but seriously: why can't this end with 7 sane Republicans joining Democrats to elect someone who isn't totally despicable?

I rarely post on twitter lately but with the dumpster fire its become I’ve decided to switch to Mastodon. You can find me there under cupofcode at mastodon.social if you wish.

The “free market” is a bunch of rules that don’t actually exist in nature. They are human creations. Governments maintain them. Markets aren’t “free” of rules; the rules define them. The real question is whether the rules are set up to help the most people, or just the richest.

A society that whitewashes history, upholds systemic racism, magnifies hate speech, and supports the free flow of deadly weapons is a lethal concoction. Is that really the type of society we want to live in?

Disinformation is a threat to our democracy, and will continue to be unless we work together to address it. Tune in as I share some thoughts on what we can all do now.

I sort of joked "wrong answers only" but this one comes close to a correct answer, I believe.

I'm reminded of the saying "why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free". Also, my experience is that some companies don't appreciate what they have until it is gone, and only then make the (more expensive) arrangements to repair what they didn't appreciate.

As we rethink behaviors in face of possible new threats, a reminder that SF – w/ 78% full vax rate, and sensible mask & other policies since Mar 2020 – has had 672 Covid deaths, 1/3rd the US per capita rate. If US had matched SF, ~500,000 people who died of Covid would be alive.

A new, shameful, example of how big companies profit from open source without giving back anything. I wonder if this trend will continue, or will be broken somehow. BTW, cURL is fantastic!
