Gdyby media poświęcały regularnie tyle uwagi walce o finansowanie nauki, #3ProcentNaNaukę, #NCNtoTlen i sukcesach polskich naukowców co tej partykularnej historii, to naprawdę bylibyśmy jako kraj w innym miejscu dziś.

Przykre, że @FaktyTVN nagłaśniają zbiórkę na czyjś drugi doktorat a nigdy nie podejmą tematu niedofinansowania nauki w PL. Premier @donaldtusk ogłosił Rok Przełomu, ale wciąż czekamy na odważne działania polityczne, które umożliwią aby @UniWarszawski był lepszy od @Cambridge_Uni!

Panu Ministrowi polecam oburzenie się na Regulamin urzędowania sądów powszechnych, bo paragrafy 67 i 68 wymuszają losowania z nierównym rozkładem prawdopodobieństwa. Również takie "skandaliczne". Więcej na slps.pl (dlaczego nie ma tam nowszych danych? hmmmm)

Ależ to jest skandal. Tym sposobem można było każdą sprawę politycznie ważną dla PiS skierować do uległego sędziego.

LLMs are trained on much more than the whole Internet -- they also consume handcrafted answers produced by armies of highly qualified data annotators (often domain experts). Today approximately 20,000 people are employed full-time to produce training data for LLMs.

Could this be related to the fact that Central & Eastern European countries tend to receive almost no ERC grants? (I'm reminded of a podcast in which two ERC laureates agreed that connections & recognition were more important in ERC than in the National Science Center in Poland.)

#brms hack of the day: I have a nonlinear "mechanistic" model y~f(x,p1,p2,...), with parameters p1, p2, ... themselves depending on a predictor x. Don't know exactly about this relationship. Then I can model p1~s(x), p2~s(x), ... as GAMs to learn about this dependencies 🤯
