So this is now, officially, real. It is a labor of love for hoops, edited w/ @johnhollinger. The great @ShotDrJr did the thing, combing through each of the 100 essays from our incredible NBA staff at @TheAthletic. Pre-orders available now; drops 11/26. Humbly, it's a good read.
Commanders game on Dec. 20 against the Eagles at Northwest Stadium has been flexed to 5 p.m. local, per NFL. Packers-Bears game also scheduled on the 20th will kick off at 8:20 Eastern.
I don’t know if this will become a thing, but like the historical framing, at least…
The Bucks are, as a TNT colleague of mine used to say, jackpotting around with the Wizards. Up 16 in the third; down to three with 9 and a half to go
PMers: Dan Quinn went for the win after the Commanders scored late in OT Sunday, to pull within one of Denver. That it didn't work doesn't mean the decision was wrong. In a lost season, Washington has to rekindle its 2024 swagger. In @TheAthletic: nytimes.com/athletic/68509…

Of course the Commanders should have gone for two, and the win, in OT Sunday. They didn’t convert, but the process of being aggressive was the right move, serving as a good reminder of who they were last year, and would like to be again. In @TheAthletic: nytimes.com/athletic/68509…
This is, uh, quality from Treylon Burks:
Why this man is about to win his 1,000th NBA game sometime in the next couple of weeks. The standard is the standard, whether you're competing for an NBA title or trying to make a 3-16 team better:
Really enjoyed this quote from Coach Rick Carlisle about commitment to defense, not celebrating a win when you're 3-16 and what type of guys will be playing on this team: "Defense in today's NBA has to be coached hard. Has to be coached hard by the Head Coach, the Defensive…
At Commanders-Broncos Sunday night: Washington will wear Super Bowl era alternate uniforms. Honorary captains: Doug Williams, Charles Mann, Dexter Manley. Toys for Tots: team will collect new, unopened toys/$$$ at Gates A, D, E, and H from 6p – end of first quarter. And:
Modern day football. I get it. But going for it on fourth and 3 from midfield up seven with 90 seconds left...hey, big Aunt Bunny catch by Dontayvion Wicks to seal it. #iykyk
PMers: CJ McCollum got on a heater (46 points) Tuesday, leading the Wizards past Atlanta for their first-ever Cup win. It was a reminder of what Washington could look like with a lead frontman that brings out the best from the band. In @TheAthletic: nytimes.com/athletic/68380…
It's a real, real honor to be included with this group – most of whom still speak with me. :-)
Dan Quinn says that this week is for starting the ramp-up for Jayden Daniels, though it's very unlikely he'll play Sunday. Concurrent w/that is the opinion of the medical staff on when Daniels can go full in practice: "Until that happens, you can't really take the next step."
Per Dan Quinn, the Commanders are close to a "full crew" again. That includes Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown, who are practicing this week; how full they're going wasn't detailed.
