Any book worth banning is a book worth reading. -- Isaac Asimov
I got a full week of complete rest No socializing. No Twitter. No AI talk. Consistent workouts, some city walks. Life feels so beautiful.
James Cameron says the AI copyright debate is backwards: "You're a model already." Humans learn like AI models do — we absorb, emulate, iterate. But we don't get sued for our influences. Only for what we output.
Worst thing to do when you're full of agency is to wake up and browse Twitter
the winner of the nobel prize in physics spending the entire press conference talking worriedly about superintelligence and human extinction while being basically indifferent to the prize or the work that won it feels like something you'd see in the movies right before shit goes…
nobody is ready, not even the people who think they're ready, not the people who feel the agi, and most of all, not the people who are building these systems... for models to go off and think more about something in 60 seconds than any human could in a lifetime

Thanks. The value of taking months to write a long-form piece is that you have a shot at seeing the underlying story that you may not get from a quick dip.
From all what I've read about what happened at @OpenAI recently, the @WIRED cover story that was written by @StevenLevy explained it in the best way. However, it was written BEFORE that crazy weekend. 😱
I would humbly (not really humbly) suggest everyone re-read this for context on what happened this weekend. A big focus in this story was on the issue apparently behind the drama.
Look what a historic document I discovered in my laptop bag.

This is wild: watch this guy go around in the Matrix Awakens (!) game explaining to AI NPCs they’re in a simulation. Remember, these are not scripted. They're not human voices. And this is not "some day", this is in Unity/Unreal now. Video games are about to be filled with AI…
There is so much noise on Twitter. Coming back after a long hiatus, it's just absurd. "For You" section is just waste of my time. No way to remove it.
This is a letter Feynman wrote to a former student who wrote congratulating him for the Nobel. I’ve posted it before but I really find it worth it to read especially as a student or early stage research person.
I was recently on a panel with several other professors and we were asked to give some tips to graduate students in machine learning. It got me thinking about why professors are so bad at giving advice. So here are some reasons why you should not take advice from professors.
Today 6 years ago, "Attention is All You Need" went on Arxiv! Happy birthday Transformer! 🎂 Fun facts: - Transformer did not invent attention, but pushed it to the extreme. The first attention paper was published 3 years prior (2014) and had an unassuming title: "Neural Machine…
