To accept the “natural” way things are or the way things were is to betray your commitment to the way things should and can be.

I remember how much Muslims were lectured about the importance of a right to offend being part of a right to free speech. We were told that we must accept offensive and racist remarks about our faith, our Prophet, etc, in the name of free speech and integrating into 'Western…
On this 9/11, we remember Osama Bin Laden, who was a human being and a father who didn't deserve to get shot for having different opinions. Murder is wrong.
The level of impunity is just unfathomable: the man is currently violating dozens of UN resolutions and is facing an arrest warrant by the ICJ. Yet he goes to the UN headquarters and orders, *from there*, another egregious war crime. The world is broken.
BREAKING | Netanyahu gave the orders to wipe out an entire neighborhood in southern Beirut from the UN headquarters in New York.
Pretty sure Israel just killed more civilians in Lebanon today than Russia has in Ukraine all year.
Norske medier stiller selvsagt opp. klassekampen.no/artikkel/2024-…
I cannot recommend this book enough. It's a cheeky way to explore (among many other things, mind you!) the limitations of arguing with people who refuse to (or can't) recognize (literal) depth, or entertain the idea that there's a world outside of their perception.

Saying that everyone has to shut up about an active genocide because it is ruining the vibes of your political movement is so nihilistic that I really can't believe any human who lives and breaths could even imagine thinking it.
The US will lecture the world about international law and order then greet a genocidal war criminal with ovation and applause. This is US hypocrisy on full display.
The conversations around Kamala Harris’ blackness are based on the perception that she only claims her black identity for political purposes. She’s never been pro-black politically and outside of name dropping some rappers, she doesn’t seem to have much of a cultural connection.
i’d imagine if more of us saw third world persons as human we’d acknowledge how american presidents have had immunity for crimes for quite some time now
This is my home. Here, in nature, with my loved ones, in the quietness of this village. This is where I find the strength and energy to keep fighting for our common home. For our Europe. For a strong Europe.
