Happy New Year! I'm seeking a remote software leadership roles (Development Manager/Director). As a servant leader, I empower teams and drive innovation. If you know of opportunities or want to reconnect, please DM. Thank you for your support!
Return to office is fantastic for companies who allow and embrace remote. Keep it up. ;)
Iterative development isn't about "done" it's about "available" or "ready" for use.
I wish the promotion process was like hiring, let people interview for their next "role."
For years there has been a lot of talk about "shift left" in testing but I've not seen much "shift right" talk in dev. It happens but you don't hear much about it.
Sending a two-factor code 2 hrs after requested isn't helpful
As a leader it's always hard saying goodbye to your team.
By providing gifts to employees who return to office you are saying their presence and contributions are more meaningful than those that remain remote. Reconsider gift giving based on work location.
Looking for a fun virtual holiday event? My team just did lock picking, very fun! jellydonutevents.com/event/learn-lo…
Leadership interview panels should include a direct report. The leadership candidate gets some direct knowledge about the team and the direct can help screen candidates based on team needs.
Spotify, like any agile org, doesn’t follow the "Spotify Model." They’ve evolved. So, given that the "Spotify Model" doesn’t even apply to Spotify any more, why do ppl copy it? How does copying somebody else’s solution to their unique problems do anything for you & your problems?
I understand why people use avatars and cute photos on Twitter. I really wish they wouldn’t do that on Slack, at least not for private (e.g. company) channels. If I don’t know everybody on the channel, a photo sure helps.
I really love when I type a message in @SlackHQ and I hit send, it logs me out, and I have to type the message all over again. Grrrr.
I've learned it's often a good idea to avoid the words "always" and "never".
Job description tip: Don't state that a role as 75% people management then provide a skills list where 15 of the 16 points are technical. Skills lists should speak to the job and be stack ranked.
So sad seeing tech companies recalling employees to the office.
One of the greatest benefits with working remote that doesn´t get enough attention: not having to struggle with finding available conference rooms when booking meetings.
Why has it taken me 5 years of professional software development to properly learn testing? Why are we not more concerned with adding robust tests? Why is testing not taught in many programming courses? I swear tests have saved my ass so many times... WRITE TESTS.
Talking to event companies about what's coming feels like talking to the music industry folks in 2000 and the newspaper folks in 2004. Yes, there are reasons people like it the old way. No, the old way won't go away...but it will diminish greatly. Evolve or Die.
