Is this the guy responsible for turning Gemini around from last year's "George Washington was black" to being actually useful this year? Google should probably promote him and summarily fire anyone who complains.

Google paid ~$3 billion to hire AI genius Noam Shazeer. He’s helped Gemini meaningfully since then but also kept posting inflammatory statements that angered colleagues and prompted Google to censor him.

I have a theory that 1) we've all been implicitly trained on How to Do First Dates without realizing it, 2) that training is very bad, 3) it's even worse in a world with dating apps, which create the expectation of a particular person who's never exactly the one who shows up

It's actually mysterious how many smart single people there are that cannot find a partner. So many people want a well-defined thing, and that thing exists in droves, and they cannot find it. Also it's each-other.

Nursing is literally the second most popular college major right now and we graduated like 300,000 nursing majors last year. These people are sick.

Hospitals and nurse recruitment agencies are beating on the H-1B drum. They're angry. Without access to 29.8M nurses worldwide, they might have to fix their own broken system and hire local. American nursing grads deserve better.

To volunteer at a food pantry is a great act of Christian love, bc you often give food to people who express no thanks for what they get and, frequently, show anger at not receiving more -- despite the fact that the food is a free gift. This is how we react to God's grace.

I'm about to be radicalized about ya'll using food pantries next.. "A f*cking joke" Ma'am I missed where you said thank you.

This. Air Traffic Control should be funded by users, who will happily continue to pay for it regardless of what mood Congress is in.

given the government is no longer reliable, and basically the only thing it does that matters to the average person is air traffic control, air traffic controllers should not be working for the government. whatever legislation is required here should be swiftly passed.

For a longtime it was chic for Christians to say the “American dream” was idolatry. In reality, the American dream is about providing the necessary context for human flourishing (housing, work, family, security). That’s not idolatry those are fundamental human goods.

Detracking has proven to be a horrible idea every time it has been tried. It's incredible how much negative value scholars of education in America have provided during my lifetime. x.com/NielsHoven/sta…

I’m reminded of something I read about a cop who arrested a guy for illegal gambling the guy said the cops could never stamp it out; the cop asked why the guy pointed to raindrops on the car window. said, “which one do you think will reach the bottom first? we’d bet on that.”

Just had a particularly good sip of my first coffee of the day and said out loud "Oh, that's good coffee" just like Homer eating his ice cream cone. I end up saying "Oh, that's PLACE TASTY FOOD HERE" at least once a week What Simpsons quote do you end up customizing?
