Hate the way that bitching on twitter is 10 times more effective than contacting a company directly to complain. Moaned on twitter, issue resolved in 10 minutes, still no response from actual customer services.

No matter how people think politics works this isn’t how it works. However a more effective “penalty” would to make the candidate personally liable for all money spent on their campaign if they defect or resign, maybe prorated over a full term.
I think that whenever an MP jumps ship, there should be an automatic recall petition, particularly when it happens so soon after they were elected, because people aren’t getting what they voted for. It’s cheating.
