I'm hearing about the Numworks graphing calculator for the first time and wondering if it's worth a try. They send free devices to teachers
Question for #iteachmath: when sharing planning with colleagues for common courses, do you share a detailed daily plan, or everyone teaches the agreed upon topic for the day using possibly various resources/activities?
Huh, turns out the spinning mechanism for this cube was fixed and reinstalled today. It's a good example of a solid of revolution (or is it?) abc7ny.com/cube-astor-pla…

Alamo Cube returns to its spinning glory in Astor Place
The giant cube in Astor Place was fully restored and returned to its rightful place in the East Village on Tuesday morning.
A mistake I made in my first few years teaching was to minimize use of TIs. Even though Desmos and other free tools are better, I've since grudgingly accepted that students still need to know how to use graphing calculators
I realize I'm several years late but this is truly an excellent resource, especially now as I think about my syllabi for next year emergentmath.com/2020/07/14/you…

One highlight of today: writing 0 to the power of 0 on the board and 8th graders making interesting mathematical arguments for a solid 30 minutes about what they thought it should be
I always get stressed out over what to do in class on days like Halloween when there's pressure to do fun activities. Here's Sarah coming in clutch!
This Halloween Mystery Tangram Puzzle combines two fun math activities into one. Step 1: Graph the ordered pairs and connect the dots. Step 2: Re-create the shape made by the ordered pairs using a set of plastic tangrams. mathequalslove.net/halloween-myst… #mtbos #iteachmath
I’ve only ever seen this happen in memes so it felt pretty cool when I saw this from a 7th grader 😅
Interesting proposition.. It would certainly make a lot of teachers' years smoother
The Common Core SMPs include a bit about discerning and using structure and patterns. This feels like a hugely important practice but somehow it's left out of the TEKS math process standards
