🚨 JET has received reports of illegal oil discharge in Savanna-la-Mar. Months later, oil remains in drains—posing fire, health & environmental risks. We call on NEPA to act now. @nepajamaica @megjc_jm @matthewsamuda

Land clearance started in the evening of March 3 and they were issued a notice to stop the next day. But the works continued. It happened very quickly.

So weird. As this clearly took some time to be done. And at no point during that time no one saw fit to halt the works. Mek it mek sense.

Land clearance near Fort Rocky in the Palisadoes-Port Royal Protected Area—despite clear rules against it. Now that the damage is done, what’s next? Who will be held responsible?

Fort Rocky falls within Conservation Zone B of the P-PRPA. In this Zone the removal or disturbance of sand, dunes, rock, flora, and fauna is explicitly prohibited. Who gave permission for this? @nepajamaica @matthewsamuda @JnhtOfficial @Babsy_grange

Is this how we protect a protected area @nepajamaica @matthewsamuda ?

Dear PM @AndrewHolnessJM, @matthewsamuda @Babsy_grange @nepajamaica @JnhtOfficial there's a tragedy & travesty occuring with mangroves by Fort Rocky, along the Palisadoes protected area & internationally designated a Ramsar site. Being destroyed to put a car park for Fort Rocky

If not bauxite, then what? Jamaica’s future can’t be another extractive industry. It’s time to reimagine a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable economy. #BeyondExtraction jamaica-gleaner.com/article/focus/…

Higher fines for breaches are good, but enforcement is key! Jamaica needs updated, streamlined environmental laws to truly protect its natural resources. #EnvironmentalProtection jamaica-gleaner.com/article/letter…
