Hope this is right. Govt failed to act for too long. Absurd to leave driving untaxed. Not just lost revenue but main externality created by driving is congestion. Tax per mile driven not perfect but like for like replacement of fuel duty. NB also need massive investment in roads.

On the positive side --- I think this is an excellent graph in the FT on the breakdown of taxation in the countries of the OECD.
