Strength
When YOU’VE been squatting, cleaning, and training with your teammates all offseason, and the DB you line up against has been doing ladder work and collecting t-shirts with that “elite” 7 on 7 team:
“You can’t teach speed,” is in fact one of the dumbest statements in existence ✔️ Sprint at full speed regularly ✔️ Get strong AF ✔️ Sprint with heavy sleds ✔️ Sprint up hills ✔️ Build resilient & sound ankles, feet & calves ✔️ Hone your mechanics
The best strength coach in the world can’t out train a sport coach with low expectations, poor team culture, and inconsistent (or non-existent) discipline.
I don’t think we credit a calorie surplus enough for hypertrophy. People want a hypertrophy block as if someone how a larger calorie burn probably putting them in a greater deficit is going to make up for their lack of eating in the first place. Should hypertrophy start w/food?
“Any idiot can make another idiot tired.” - Yuri Verkhoshanksy Just a nice Saturday reminder
It's ok to be wrong That means you have plenty of room to improve and deliver even better results moving forward
Pete Carroll's 3 Rules: 1. Be Early "It's all about being organized and showing respect." 2. Protect the Team "Are you helping or hurting the team? Every decision has an impact." 3. No Whining, Complaining, Excuses "Positive attracts positive. Negative attracts negative."
Reminders: - It doesn’t matter how conditioned you are if you’re slow & weak - It doesn’t matter how strong you are if you suck - All the speed & power in the world is useless if you’re never healthy enough to display it Just some Sunday afternoon perspective
Something to think about as fall sports are starting camp and in-season lifting. Attn: football coaches
“So & so can’t play, they didn’t pass the mile test.” “But he’s a pitcher & he throws 95mph & he’s our best arm.” “Nope, I don’t care. He won’t pitch until he learns to run cross country.” Yes, that’s how stupid some of you sound with your conditioning tests
