Here’s a video produced by “Led by Donkeys” out of the U.K. that puts down the timeline of how Musk used X to get Donald Trump elected. I would save it because I don’t think it will be up for long.

The term "buy-in" is used widely in change but it is not helpful. When we ask "how do we get [add the name of a particular group] to buy-in to our proposed change?", it is too late. It creates risk in our ability to achieve outcomes. We don't need "buyers" who "buy-in" to change,…

The pervasive cultural belief that everything is awful risks actually making it so, @nytdavidbrooks argues: theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

Please please spread the word about the Elephant in the room project. It is all about mental health. I was so honoured that President Michael D signed the Elephant for the Samaritans and for me. There will be twenty elephants and hopefully this project will raise lots of money.

I actually just got commissioned to voice two short videos for kids on this topic by @midlandsscience. Only a small thing, but hopefully HSE would start a bigger campaign. You're 100% right that it's a big issue among many people. youtu.be/gUmteyEOJ3c

I’ve been — technically correctly — fined €15 for parking in Skerries by @BleeperActive Can I ask local councillors for bicycle parking at the Square or somewhere close by? Kind of defeats part of the point of Bleeper if there’s no parking near your destination.

As we go into the third year of the pandemic, the New Scientist team has been delving deep into what we can expect in 2022. I urge you: do not expect the pandemic to end next year. Let’s all go into the new year with realistic expectations.

With Omicron, there's been the emergence of 2 different camps with opposite perspectives. I've tried to summarize them here

#Omicron is posing all sorts of new problems, not seen before in this pandemic. The hyper transmissibility is causing a nightmare with staff absence, and it's extremely difficult to contain within hospital wards. It may cause less severe disease, but it's causing absolute chaos

This is my opinion on classrooms given the coming Omicron surge for which there are new vaccines in the pipeline

You know it's a good day in the pandemic when: —The 1st anti-Covid pill is cleared —More indications that Omicron is associated with less severe illness and tends to come down from its big surge as quickly as it ascends —The 1st pan-coronavirus vaccine is ready for Phase 2 trials

This is a great article and the 3 days ‘exposure to symptoms’ explains much of the fitness advantage. This is what we are seeing here in NY with 2-3 days from exposure then symptoms and a positive test. theatlantic.com/science/archiv…

I haven’t waded into mask conversation bc I decided that to make a difference, I would keep on one major topic - tests (plus a 2nd being vax immunology Bc that’s what I usually study) That said: WHY? in all high hell doesn’t every American have a box of free N95s at this point!

Let’s try and turn that privilege into something positive: Let’s look out for others. Let’s support those most in need of support in the coming weeks even if they made decisions we disagree with. Let’s help people by spreading good information from trusted sources.

I understand the frustration at the unvaccinated. I feel it. But they are part of our community. If a lot of these people end up in hospital (plus lots of staff out sick), then healthcare is likely to collapse and that will affect you too. And your neighbour and your parents.
